Ride to Play: An ETS Learning Initiative‼️
Recently, kiddos from Sifton & Belmont did something a lot of them have never done before: taking the LRT! With their coaches, they took a city bus to Clareview Transit Terminal, then took the LRT to Commonwealth Recreation Centre for Free to Play Tournament Day! 🚌🚇
It was a new experience for many of them and a chance to get more comfortable using Edmonton’s public transit system, a service used over 700K times last year by Edmontonians for their trips, and they showed up ready to compete thanks to an efficient and fun experience!
Some of them may use public transportation in the future, and learning to use it now will help prepare them for that experience!
This was also a great example of our Sport to Life course topic: Play #1 - Trying New Things. This course is designed to help our coaches (and any coach) of children aged 7–11 integrate resilience and teamwork into their sessions through grounded, trauma-informed methodologies.
