Learning About Healthy Eyes 👀🥕
At a recent Free to Play after school session, the kids learned something new: the food they eat can help keep their eyes healthy.
Through activities, they learned about “superfoods” that can support eye health and overall health. One of the main foods they talked about was carrots, which can help support good vision. 🥕
The kids also got to try foods and build their own snack using what they learned. This helped them understand how healthy foods can be part of their everyday meals.
This session is part of the Free Play program, which helps kids learn how food can support different parts of their health in simple and fun ways. Food to Play is our way of making sure every child who joins Free Play has the fuel they need to grow strong, stay focused, and feel included.
The Food to Play program is led by Dacia Mead, a Certified Holistic Nutritionist and an instructor at the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition for over seven years. Her expertise ensures every bite is healthy, balanced, and made with care.
we believe that access to healthy food should never be a barrier to participation.
A big thank you to the Alberta Association of Optometrists for their support.
