Coach Training Highlights ✨

Recently, Lucas Alves, Regional Manager for the South Region, led a soccer-focused coach training that got everyone thinking a bit differently.

He ran a de-regulation game where coaches had to play with some restrictions (like only using their non-dominant foot). It made things harder on purpose, and slightly frustrating too. 👀

But that was exactly the point.

Because it’s the same idea that’s used with kids: creating small challenges so they can practice handling those moments when things aren’t going their way.

This idea ties directly with our Sport to Life program in wich coaches intentionally teach life skills integrated into fun and engaging activities during their afterschool sessions. This coach training tested the topics tryining new things and keeping myslef calm in wich the kiddos are given challenges to try something new during activities and Learn to stay calm at any time they feel their emotions are overwlming them.

Understanding how the kids feel in those moments helps to not only know how they might feel, but to use that knowledge to help them through those challenges. As Lucas put it: “How we manage those moments is more important than anything.”

It was a fun session, but also a good reminder, growth doesn’t come from things being easy. It comes from how we respond when they’re not.
