‘Parentemonials’: Halim

We love that Halim is exposing his son Ibrahim to a number of sports at their young age. And thrilled to have Ibrahim part of our Jr Wolves to evolve as an athlete, teammate, and young person ❤️

Convenient practices close to home in a neighbourhood school, and a team with a lot of skill provides Ibrahim with the type of challenges Halim sees his son thriving in — accommodating their families schedule.

The Jr Wolves program is lucky to have Ibrahim, and we are truly excited to see him develop within our program. Time to howl Jr Wolves! 🐺

Halim’s Parentemonial Transcript

Also, the team spirit. I really like that. It's something that comes with Free Play, especially through team sports. It's a valuable skill to build at an early age.

Hi, folks. My name is Halim Lichiheb. My son, Ibrahim, is part of the Free Play soccer Wolves team.

I’d say it's a continuation of what he already enjoys. He's at that age where he's trying out more than one sport at a time. Sports are a big part of what he likes to do outside of school. He does Taekwondo, swimming, and basketball.

The way I see it, at his age, I want to expose him to different sports and let him make that choice for himself. I want him to find where he feels most comfortable and what he really connects with. The more he explores, the better it is for me as a parent.

Soccer has been something he's stuck with for a few years now. With the Wolves, it's been a great opportunity for him, especially during the winter. He really enjoys the Monday practices, where he can train with the team, reflect on the last game, and think about how to improve.

He likes playing against other teams. It challenges his game, helps him level up, and encourages personal growth. He pushes himself, and that’s something I love to see.

In the long run, I believe all of this helps prepare him for real life. It teaches him how to compete fairly and how to approach challenges in a healthy, constructive way.

The location is very convenient for us. Communication is excellent. I really appreciate how they use the app. It makes things simple and easy to manage, especially for parents who can't always make it to every practice or game. We get timely updates, and the program is very accommodating.

Free Play has truly been a fantastic experience. For newcomers especially, I would recommend it. If you're new to Edmonton or Canada in general, finding a program like Free Play for your kids can make a big difference. It helps them transition and settle into Canadian society in a smooth and enjoyable way.
