Wolves Receive $10,000 Grant from Canada Basketball
We’re excited to share some great news — Wolves Athletics CLub has been selected as a recipient of a 2026 UNIFIED Assist Program grant from Canada Basketball!
Through this program, Wolves Athletics will receive $10,000 in funding to support the continued growth of basketball in our community. This grant is part of a national initiative that helps organizations expand access to the game and create more inclusive, safe sport opportunities for youth across the country.
The UNIFIED Assist Program supports grassroots basketball programs that are focused on skill development, leadership, and building stronger communities through sport. We’re proud to be one of 16 organizations across Canada selected this year.
What This Means for Our programs
This funding will directly support the launch of our Jr. Wolves 3x3 Basketball League, a new program designed to give young athletes more opportunities to learn, play, and grow in the game.
The program will include:
8 Jr. Wolves teams (4 boys and 4 girls teams)
10 athletes per team
Weekly on-court training sessions
Bi-weekly games following the FIBA 3x3 format
Three full-day basketball camps in November, February, and March
Running from September 2026 to June 2027, the program will offer nearly 100 sessions and over 130 hours of basketball programming for each participant.
Building More Than Just Skills
While skill development is a key focus, this program is about much more than basketball.
Our goals are to:
Help athletes build confidence and teamwork
Create a clear pathway into Wolves Athletics programs
Increase access to structured after-school sports
Grow a lifelong love for the game
We’ll also be tracking participation, skill development, and overall athlete experience to make sure we’re continuing to improve and deliver meaningful impact.
Our commitment
As part of this initiative, our staff will complete a range of important training, including:
Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI)
Indigenous Awareness
Safe Sport and Rule of Two
Canada Basketball Safe Sport training
Our in-house Sport to Life curriculum
This ensures that every athlete is part of a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment.
Thank You!
We’re grateful to Canada Basketball and its partners for investing in community programs like ours and helping make sport more accessible for all.
We can’t wait to get started and see our athletes on the court.
